to be Honored by the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce

Tish Starbuck, Vice President of Mission and Ethics at Saint John’s Health Center has been chosen to receive a 2008 Chairman’s Award from the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce at the Chamber’s 83rd Installation dinner on Thursday, June 5, being held at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel. Starbuck resides in Malibu.
Starbuck was selected for her involvement and contributions to the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce as a member of the Government Affairs Committee.
“Each year we award Chairman’s Awards to members of the Chamber who are not on the Board of Directors but whose contributions to the business of the Chamber are invaluable,” said Tom Larmore, Chairman of the Board of the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce. “Tish joined us on a trip to Sacramento to meet with legislators, and last fall when the Chamber was putting together a checklist of what we would look for in legislation involving health care issues, she was very helpful.”
Starbuck is also a member of the Chamber’s Workforce Housing Committee and a participant in the LUCE (Land Use Circulation Element) Planning and Westside Transportation meetings.
In addition to Starbuck’s award, three Saint John’s employees have been selected by Saint John’s for recognition at the event for their outstanding efforts in service excellence. These three employees are Teresa Fan, Pharm.D., Greg Packard, and Judy Hutchison, RN MSN.
Teresa Fan, Pharm.D., is the pain management pharmacist at Saint John’s Health Center. She works side by side with physicians and nurses to solve pain management issues for patients. Physicians have commended her for her high level of professionalism and excellent interaction with the medical staff. The nursing staff has commended Fan for being a wonderful resource for pain management of difficult-to-treat patients. She was selected for the invaluable role she plays as a resource to the staff of Saint John’s and patients in efforts to better manage pain.
Greg Packard was selected for his contribution to the PICIS Project, which takes surgical services at Saint John’s Health Center to an advanced state of technology through computerized record keeping.
Judy Hutchison RN MSN, an Advanced Practice Nurse, is being recognized for her tireless efforts in teaching and guiding the care of cardiovascular patients. She is a liaison with patient/families/physicians and health care teams to educate and manage care and resources for cardiac and critical care patients. In the community she is involved in cholesterol screenings, Happy Hearts, woman with heart disease and American Heart Association community education programs for local school systems.
Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California is the hospital of choice for patients and physicians with national reputations in cancer, orthopedics, cardiac care and women’s health services. In the aftermath of the 1994 Northridge Earthquake, Saint John’s is rebuilding the entire health center campus, which includes inpatient and medical buildings, surgical centers and research facilities.
